Muzi Home & Garden (“Muzi”, “we”, “us”) is a small online shop based in Auckland, New Zealand. This policy explains what personal information we collect through muzi.co.nz, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can access or correct it. We handle personal information in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
What we collect
- Order details – your name, delivery and billing address, email, phone number, and what you ordered.
- Account details – if you create an account: your login email and password (stored encrypted), order history and saved addresses.
- Messages – anything you send us through the contact form, email or social media.
- Payment information – card payments are processed by our payment providers. We do not see or store your full card number.
- Website usage – basic information such as pages visited, device and browser type, collected through cookies and similar tools (see below).
Why we collect it
- To process, pack and deliver your order and to contact you about it.
- To answer your questions and provide after-sales support, including returns and refunds.
- To keep our records as required by law (for example tax records).
- To understand how our website is used so we can improve it.
- To send you news or offers – only if you have opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in each email.
Who we share it with
We only share what is needed to run the shop:
- Courier – NZ Post receives your name, address and phone number to deliver your parcel.
- Payment providers – WooPayments (powered by Stripe) processes card, Apple Pay and Google Pay payments.
- Website hosting and services – our website host and the WordPress / WooCommerce services that run this site (including Jetpack site statistics).
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram) – we use the Meta Pixel and Meta’s Conversions API to measure and improve our ads. When you browse the shop, add items to your cart or place an order, Meta receives details of that activity (such as pages viewed, products and order value) together with technical information such as your IP address and browser. If you place an order, your email address and phone number are also sent in hashed (scrambled) form so Meta can match the purchase to a Facebook or Instagram account. Meta handles this information under its own privacy policy, and you can manage how ads are shown to you in your Meta ad preferences.
- Other marketing and analytics tools – if enabled on this site, services such as Google and Pinterest may receive information about your visit and purchases to measure our advertising.
Some of these providers store information outside New Zealand (for example in Australia, the United States or Europe). We use reputable providers that protect personal information in ways comparable to the Privacy Act. We never sell your personal information.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies to keep your cart and login working, to remember your preferences and, where enabled, for analytics and advertising measurement. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some parts of the shop (like the cart) may not work without them.
How we keep it safe and for how long
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including secure (HTTPS) checkout and limited access to our admin systems. We keep order records for as long as needed for our business and legal obligations (for example, IRD record-keeping), then delete or anonymise them.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Email us at hello@muzi.co.nz and we will respond within 20 working days. If you are not happy with how we handle your request, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
